Nexia International (Nexia), the ninth largest global network of independent accounting and consulting firms, is delighted to announce that Ian Stone has been appointed as the new Chair.
Ian Stone is the Chair at Nexia Australia, which has over 550 employees throughout Australia and is Partner and Chair of its Sydney office in Australia. He joined Nexia's International Board in November 2011 and has also held the position of Regional Chair of the Asia Pacific region for the last six years. His position as Nexia Chair is effective, following Nexia's Annual Conference, which took place in Cape Town, South Africa on 2 November 2019.
He succeeds Dr Markus Emmrich, the Partner and Managing Board member of German member firm Ebner Stolz, who held the role of Nexia Chair for three years.
Emmrich explained that much had been achieved during his tenure. He says: ''Nexia saw tremendous growth over the last three years. The growth will certainly continue based on outstanding service capabilities of member firms. Nexia will continue the process to further develop specalised offerings for all service lines and for a number of different industries.''
Emmrich continues: ''Nexia is well prepared to offer digital solutions and support for clients that meet future demands. Member firms will continue to be very successful in winning international business from multinational clients.''
Stone, the new Chair, says: ''I am very excited to be selected as the first non-European Chair and see this as a great opportunity to ignite and engage all firms throughout their membership. In any network, all firms have an important part to play in its growth and success. The enduring relationships we have with our clients, our teams and each member throughout our global network is a core value of Nexia and a hall mark of Nexia's success. This makes me particularly proud to be the new Chair of such a wonderful network of professionals''.
''The next 3 years will be an exciting time for Nexia as we embark on a review of our Network strategy to incorporate the rapid changes that the profession and our clients are facing every day. In particular we are seeing growth in our advisory services across all our firms and therefore we need to strengthen and broaden these service lines to ensure we stay relevant to our clients and meet their demands. We also see opportunities within industry specialties as we focus on continuing to add value to our traditional service lines. I look forward to working with all our members as we navigate our way forward through a sea of change.''
