The crucial factor which has influenced and continues to influence all types of businesses and individuals in Ukraine is the Russian invasion. The war impacts all spheres, including activities of enterprises operating in Ukraine and relevant legislative norms. Today the war has a direct effect on the tax, customs and currency policies of Ukraine.
Due to imposition of martial law in Ukraine on February 24, 2022 certain temporary norms were introduced, including a simplified tax regime with 2% income tax, tax privileges for enterprises that are unable to perform their tax obligations, VAT exemption for certain types of transactions to name a few.
Despite the war, Ukrainian businesses continue working, new legal entities are being registered, and new investments are coming into Ukraine even in such an extremely turbulent time. Pre-war initiatives are being implemented, in particular the Diia.City regime which provides tax privileges for IT-companies. CFC rules were introduced as of January 1, 2022 and first CFC reports were filed in April 2023.
